America’s Premier 57 Mile “Interval” Team Relay and Solo

Asotin Creek Park, Asotin Washington to River Park, Troy Oregon

    …AFTER                            Saturday, July 17,  2010,  8:00 a.m.

An Interval Relay Race is a team event where runners choose to run distances of personal choice, instead of the standard method of running designated legs between exchange points.  Runners may exchange the baton at any time, or any order, running as short, or as long a distance as you may desire.  This makes for more team participation, with strategies like putting fast runners on the flats, strong runners on the hills, and sprinters near the finish.

Course :  A beautiful 57 mile traverse through the Umatilla Forest starting along Asotin Creek Canyon, ascending to an elevation of 6194 feet between Mt. Misery and Mt. Horrible. You will enjoy breathtaking views of the Grande Ronde River as you descend to Grouse Flats.  Then it’s a sharp plunge down the Wenaha River to Troy. The course is mostly on a gravel road with only six miles of pavement. Well-maintained support vehicles with traction tires are required.  Bring tools, first-aid, water, and food for the  long drive.   Play it safe and share the road. Travel trailers and RV's are too wide for the course and must drive around to Troy.

Lodging Information :  At Clarkston: Motel 6 (509)758-1631.  At Troy: Shilo Oasis Inn (509)256-3372 for RV, tent, and hotel  accommodations.

Registration :  Entry fee is $40 per person.  Teams shall consist of 2 to 6 persons. All runners and substitutions must read and sign a Registration Form.  No substitutions or additions will be allowed after start time on race day.  Team members receive a T-shirt and post race dinner catered by Shilo Oasis.  Solo runners must have a teammate for support.  Late fee after July 6th is $15.00 per team. Awards to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place teams.
